In a bid reinvigorate Uganda’s tourism sector and movement of people, the Government of Uganda has edged closet to the reopening of borders and Entebbe International Airport which has been closed since March this year.

President Yoweri Museveni announced an indefinite ban on international travel and  loses Entebbe international airport to both incoming and exiting flights. However, plans are underway to have borders and the airport reopened to the public.

In a meeting with the National COVID-19 task force at State house Nakasero, President Yoweri Museveni was briefed about the possibility of reopening the airport with the strict adherence to the set standard Operational procedures. Foreign tourists and incoming Ugandans who have been abroad are supposed to present a PCR test result valid for 78 hours.

The president also showed hesitation about the imposing of a second lockdown in Kampala, saying there is need for a special lane for ambulances so as emergencies can be attended to with efficiency.
