Presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine has rejected security personnel offered to him by the Electoral commission yesterday to protect him during campaigns.
His detail of security and a pick up vehicle was given to him by the electoral body’s chair Eng Simon Byabakama Mugyenyi after he was successfully nominated as a presidential candidate for the National Unity Platform party.
According to NUP Secretary General Lewis David Lubongoya, the candidate and the party do not trust the security since they were unable to protect him yesterday against UPDF and police brutal treatment, saying they failed the test.
This was communicated today at the party headquarters in Kamwokya where the party members were addressing the press about party matters and when they are to launch their manifesto having been stopped yesterday by police.

The party has decided to launch their manifesto on Friday from their offices in Mbarara. They have also condemned police brutality for arresting their candidate brutally and stopping him from launching his manifesto as well as hurting many of his supporters.
After Robert Kyagulanyi got nominated as presidential candidate on Tuesday, he was arrested immediately after he had stepped out of the Kyambogo University gate and saw his vehicle glasses smashed before he was dragged into a black van. He was shocked away from the city to his home in Magere. The ensuing fracas saw many sustained injuries while scores were arrested.
