A dark day in the National Unity Platform-NUP family as one of their senior members and news reporter for Ghetto Media Ashiraf Kasirye was on December 27,2020 shot at in the head by police in Masaka while the party presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu alias Bobi Wine and team was heading to Lwengo for campaign meetings.
According to NUP, Ashraf was bleeding from the head and in very critical condition.
“POLICE IN MASAKA HAS SHOT KASIRYE ASHIRAF, ONE OF OUR JOURNALISTS AT GHETTO MEDIA AS WE HEADED TK LWENGO DISTRUC FOR OUR CAMPAIGNS. HE IS SEVERELY BLEEDING FROM THE HEAD AND FEARED TO BE DEAD,” NUP announced via their social media platforms.
Eyewitness revealed to Boom Gossip that Kasirye was shot as Bobi Wine was leaving Masaka City after attending prayers at Our Lady of Sorrows, Kitovu Cathedral.
Kasirye was rushed to Mulago – Masaka Regional Referral Hospital for emmagency treatment however Boom Gossip understands Kasirye was later transferred to Kampala for better treatment.
Reports coming in from hospital says Kasirye is still fighting for his life however in sorry state but responding to medication.
In response after the nasty incident, Bobi Wine says incumbent and National Resistance Movement-NRM President Yoweri Museveni’s time to rule Uganda is soon running out.
“To you Gen. Museveni and the criminals you command to target and murder Ugandans, you must understand that your time is soon running out. This is our country,” a post on his Facebook indicated.
During the chaos, Boom Gossip has learnt that multiple people are nursing wounds at Masaka Referral Hospital apparently injured in the scuffle.
These also include NTV journalist, Ali Mivule and Daniel Lutaaya who were also hit by a yet to be identified object on the thigh.
Ashiraf Kasirye’s course to Kampala succumb one dead.
Latest developments say, after receiving emmagency treatment in Masaka hospital, he was rushed to Kampala for better treatment.
However, on the way to the hospital, police blocked the ambulance and allegedly knocked Bobi Wine personal body guard Francis Senteza dead.
The deceased will rest to peace today.
