Assistant Inspector General of Police Asan Kasinge has said via his Twitter that Facebook is only for a certain group of Ugandans.
Kasinge was replying to a tweet by Capital FM’s Lucky Mbabazi who asked why she can not access the app.
“It’s only for a certain group of people. It should be alright with you” He said.
Since morning Facebook has become inaccessible in Uganda after the state allegedly blocked it ahead of Thursday, January 14th polling.
This has been the norm in the country where social media is always blocked during presidential Elections.
Ugandans have now resorted to installing and using virtual private networks (VPN) to log into their Facebook accounts and pages.
Soon, we shall all quit Social Media. I think we shall soon realise that it’s about profiling people than being a citizen’s media. https://t.co/YCPrnTjWXq
